On Monday, January 21, 2013 from 8AM to 1PM, more than 1000 community and corporate volunteers will come together to commemorate MLK Jr. Day in Los Angeles by transforming the campus of Washington Irving Middle School, a Title I school in Los Angeles where 80% of the students qualify for free and reduced-price lunch. This school is part of United Way’s Leadership Matters program.

The day’s volunteer projects will include painting math/science murals in the hallways, helping the teachers organize their new curriculum materials, landscaping, painting their new name across the large main entrance wall, and much more!

This is a great group volunteering opportunity for work colleagues, family and congregations. We are also looking for Team Captains to help lead the various activities at the school. Please join us! For more information or to sign up, contact Jessica Yas at 213-808-6463 or jyas@unitedwayla.org.
