On Wednesday morning, United Way of Greater L.A. – along with close to a dozen other nonprofits including Community Health Charities of California and the United Negro College Fund – hosted the 2013 LAUSD “Sharing Brings Hope” Campaign Leadership Breakfast at Dodger Stadium.

Featuring guest speakers District Superintendent John Deasy and Board President Monica Garcia, the event brought together countless agency representatives and employees of the L.A. Unified School District to kick off a brand new fundraising season while also celebrating the accomplishments of the previous year.

The top fundraisers in each of eight different categories were formally recognized for successfully raising a combined total of nearly $60,000 in support of consolidated efforts to improve the overall quality of public education in Los Angeles.

Deasy, Garcia and others stressed the importance of contributing to this worthy cause, the impact it would have on the lives of local students and the District’s potential to achieve a 100% high school graduation rate.
