On Thursday, November 7, over 30 volunteers from Avery Dennison celebrated the conclusion of their United Way campaign by visiting our partner, the West San Gabriel Valley Boys & Girls Club. Volunteers brought something special to this event by hosting a literacy fair for the students, aged 5-16. Students were invited to join in fun academic activities such as a trivia bowl, spelling bee, Scrabble tournament, and a “Be Great” online research project, where students researched “great” role models online to create postings for the Boys & Girls Club’s “Be Great” wall. Volunteers also gave a social media seminar that provided wise advice on the proper use of social media, both privately and at work. Avery Dennison generously donated books and sports equipment (including an entire foosball table!) to the Club. THANK YOU Avery Dennison for your longtime commitment to United Way and our partners, your support is deeply appreciated, especially among the students of your community. Special thanks as well to the Director of Operations at the WSGVBGC, Frank Reyes, for your work in making this event a reality!
