Each year thousands of local residents are helped thanks to the Utility Assistance Program. The program is comprised of the “Energy Assistance Fund” (EAF) and “Gas Assistance Fund” (GAF). These annual programs are funded through customer contributions which Southern California Edison and The Gas Company solicit in an annual campaign. The contributions received are then matched dollar for dollar by The Edison Company and The Gas Company.
United Way is the Administering Agency for both the EAF and GAF programs, and oversees approximately 90 disbursement agencies located in 12 counties, providing allocated amounts to the agencies, so that the funds get channeled to customers. To qualify for the assistance, customers must fall within Federal income guidelines. The maximum assistance amount is up to $100.00 for EAF and up to $100.00 for GAF, and can be received only one-time in a 12 month period.
If you need more information about the program, please call Patricia Banuelos at 213-808-6257 or email her at: pbanuelos@unitedwayla.org.
The 2012 GAF program will begin on January 10, 2012 and will operate through June 29, 2012 or until funds are depleted. Funds are limited.
The 2012 EAF program is expected to begin in the summer of 2012. Funds are limited.
