Creating Pathways out of Poverty
The United Way of Greater Los Angeles is a non-profit, locally governed organization that works to create lasting, positive changes in people’s lives and the local community through our creating pathways out of poverty 10-year plan.
We have helped thousands of people improve their quality of life and become productive members in our community. We identify the problems unique to the community and support the best organizations to solve them.
- 73,000 people are homeless every night; almost 40% are women and children
- 50% of students drop out of high school in many of our communities
- 1.6 million people in Greater Los Angeles live in poverty; 600,000 of them are children
United Way’s 10-year action plan addresses the most pressing challenges facing Los Angeles County. We are working with over 150 partners in order to achieve our plan’s goals to: meet basic needs such as food, housing and health care; improve educational achievement including middle school transition, parent engagement and high school graduation; increase financial stability through job training and financial savings.
But we need your support.
The more you give, the more people we can help.
Together, we’ll fight. United we’ll win…
