In a widespread effort to assist 49 million Americans who face hunger every day, the National Association of Letter Carriers - in partnership with several organizations including United Way - will hold its 20th Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday, May 12.
Last year alone, more than 70 million pounds of food was collected – making it the largest single-day food drive in the country.
The L.A. Unified School District currently provides 650,000 meals a day to its students. This summer when school is out, thousands of children will be without those regular meals, so please leave any non-perishable food items including canned soup, meats, fish, fruits or vegetables, bottled juices, rice, pastas and cereals by your mailbox on May 12 for pick-up.
For more information on how you can volunteer to help sort donated items, please click here or contact United Way Volunteer Services Manager Jessica Yas at firstname.lastname@example.org.
