In the Antelope Valley, there are 1,815 people who are homeless each night. According to the 2007 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count:

  • 247 are children.
  • 419 are people in families.
  • 1,615 are unsheltered - living on the streets, in cars, parks, or abandoned buildings.
  • 593 are chronically homeless, meaning they have been homeless for a long period of time and face one or more disabilities.

Will You? - 2009 Homeless Count Demographic Survey: The LA Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) needs volunteers to interview homeless individuals on the streets to collect information on the causes of their homelessness and the resources most likely to help them.   • 3 Join Local Coalitions: Help end homelessness by getting involved in local coalitions working toward permanent solutions.
    • The Antelope Valley Homeless Coalition is currently advocating to increase the availability of emergency, transitional, and permanent housing for homeless individuals and families. The coalition meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 1:30pm at the Fire Station Training Center, 42110 6th Street West, Lancaster, 93534.
