- 1,581 are children.
- 2,549 are people in families.
- 8,562 are unsheltered - living on the streets, in cars, parks, or abandoned buildings.
- 3,273 are chronically homeless, meaning they have been homeless for a long period of time and face one or more disabilities.

- Register now for HomeWalk 2008: HomeWalk is United Way’s annual 5K family walk to raise awareness and resources to end homelessness in Los Angeles County. This year’s walk takes place on Saturday, November 15th at Exposition Park.
- Join Local Coalitions: Help end homelessness by getting involved in local coalitions working toward permanent solutions.
- Long Beach Area Coalition for the Homeless is a grassroots coalition of community members interested in preventing and ending homelessness in Long Beach. They meet the first Wednesday of each month at 8:30am at the Long Beach Multi-Service Center, 1301 W. 12th St., Long Beach, 90813.
- Long Beach Homeless Services Advisory Committee is an advisory committee appointed by the mayor and City Council members to elicit feedback from the homeless community on policy recommendations to the City of Long Beach. They meet the first Wednesday of each month at 3:30pm at the Long Beach Multi-Service Center, 1301 W. 12th St., Long Beach, 90813.
