Women Leaders
United Way Women Leaders is a network of women dedicated to helping reduce poverty in Los Angeles County.
As businesswomen and philanthropists, our vision is to make a lasting difference in the lives of low-income women by creating pathways out of poverty.
In Los Angeles County:
- Over 73,000 people are homeless every night; almost 40% are women and children.
- Only 37% of girls in middle school are proficient in reading and writing.
- 40% of single mother families with children under 18 are poor.
Women play a critical role in developing our community’s 21st century workforce. The women who are today’s mothers, educators, workers, voters, donors and leaders will shape the future that today’s girls and young women will inherit.
As a woman leader member, you will be asked to lend your support by making a gift of $2,500 or more to the United Way Creating Pathways Out of Poverty Fund.
If you are interested in joining the United Way Women Leaders, please contact Sarah Oesterle at 213-808-6260 or email womenleaders@unitewayla.org
With your support, we can make a meaningful impact in our community by giving working women the opportunity for self-sufficiency and economic empowerment, and shape a promising future for all of L.A.’s residents.
