His own parents were both @LAUSD teachers at Wilson High School and serve as continual inspiration for him.
One of Jason’s students, Edna Cerritos, had this to say:
“My community is known for low achieving schools and low graduation rates, where many kids drop out. Mr. Torres is one of those teachers where every student cannot wait to be in his class. He has encouraged me, and has awoken in me curiosity. He has inspired me to learn beyond my limits. Mr. Torres prepares unique lectures for us and teaches us with great enthusiasm. I have noticed how much he cares about all of us and our community. He goes beyond his teaching duties at school by always volunteering and showing us the importance of being leaders. Just recently, he worked tirelessly with our counselors to make sure we submitted our applications for college. With his support, I will be graduating next year and have submitted 10 college applications so far. His work is making a big change in my school, community and the world of education. He is training other teachers to be effective and transform our lives to be successful.”
