An Evening of Art and Inspiration

An Evening of Art and Inspiration

“Art has the power to transform, to illuminate, to educate, inspire and motivate.” – Harvey Fierstein

On Tuesday, September 26, United Way of Greater Los Angeles and members of its Leadership Society came together to celebrate the transformative power of art. Life Stories: Home is Where the Art is featured selected works from formerly homeless individuals and other community members that United Way donors have impacted. It was an evening filled with comradery, poignant discussions, and amazing art.

With the support of the Boys and Girls Club of Venice, SRO Housing Corporation and The People’s Concern, over 40 pieces of art were put on display and up for sale with with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the artist.

“Every stroke of paint is an intimate expression,” said Erika Anderson, United way of L.A. Board Member. Last night was evidence that art can heal, empower and express.
