United Way of Greater Los Angeles’ Director of Digital Marketing is a man of many talents. When he’s not on the soccer field, he’s playing bass guitar in his band or giving meaning to digital data. This L.A. native takes pride in his city and values how United Way makes an actual difference in the community.

1. How long have you been with United Way of Greater Los Angeles?
One year on December 1.

2. What inspires you the most about working at United Way?
As an L.A. Native I’m inspired in knowing that the work I’m doing is in some way creating positive change in our community in a time where we are seeing and experiencing rapid change. It’s easy to forget that with an increase to the standards of living there are those often left behind and or forgotten, so I’m grateful that I have been able to find a place where I can apply my skill set in closing those gaps.

3. What is your most favorite thing that you have accomplished during your time at United Way so far?
In short, hiring my manager and coordinator whom I really both appreciate, but aside from onboarding a team, I’d say ensuring that they've created a base and process around digital metrics and data -- basically keeping track of our site and email performance, as well as improving on our CRM data, to ensure that all of our back end systems are talking for marketing purposes.

4. What event are you looking forward to participating in this year?
I missed HomeWalk last year by a day, literally starting the Monday after the big event, so it’s exciting now to be a part of the start of it. The learning curve is still real as ever, but I enjoy seeing how we can improve in the digital marketing space.

5. As the Director of Digital Marketing at United Way, what are you looking forward accomplishing in your position?
Increasing individual gifts online. Sounds simple enough but it means implementing a lot and assuring United Way is top of mind when it comes to online giving. With that being said “visit our site and give lots and often!”

6. What is your favorite snack?
I always gravitate toward a grab bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos

7. What book are you reading now?
The last book I really enjoyed was Freakonomics. It connected what I enjoy in history, data, and business.

8. Where’s your favorite place in L.A.?
The South Bay area, which is home for me.

9. What is your favorite thing to do on a weekend morning or after work hours?
After work, I enjoy helping my daughter with her homework or even just doing something fun like playing a board game. For a 3rd grader, she is crazy competitive!

10. Is there a random fact about you that you want to tell us?
I play guitar and bass in two bands.

11. Any fun hobbies?
I love playing soccer every Sunday and I hope I can keep that up for a long time.

12. Who do you admire most and why?
Both of my grandfathers. They immigrated here through the US Navy after WWII and made the most out of that opportunity to give to their family and communities here and at home. My life has a different narrative but I hope to do the same.
