Chief Operating Officer
Milinda Martin has a long history of affiliation with United Way, as a former workplace ambassador, as a founding member of Women United, as a member of the marketing cabinet, as a corporate grantor, and in July 2016 she was named Chief Operating Officer of United Way of Greater Los Angeles. Milinda has a passion for helping teams focus, align, and exceed expectations, and a requirement to have fun every day at work.
With a background that includes event planning, communications, grantmaking, thought leadership, employee volunteerism, media relations, budget planning and execution, and cause marketing, at organizations such as Robinsons-May, Macy’s, and Time Warner Cable, Milinda brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Organization. She is a strong advocate for United Way, and truly believes the organization is vital to reducing poverty in Los Angeles County.
Milinda has two adult children, one still in college, and is a native Angeleno. She has a degree in Economics from Tufts University in Massachusetts, and a certificate in Economics from the London School of Economics. She is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s executive education in corporate social responsibility. She serves on the board of the Los Angeles Urban League and the City Scholars Foundation, and is active in Southern California Grantmakers and the Los Angeles Community Leaders Group which consists of corporate executives in the CSR and sustainability space.
