9 AM to 12 PM: “Performance Based Contracting”
This session is for agency supervisors and managers, as well as board members and funders. Performance-based contracts are being used across the country to encourage a high level of performance by providers, increase capacity to implement effective strategies to end homelessness, and shape programs’ performance to meet specific system needs. Discussion will include examples of jurisdictions that have implemented performance based contracting and how it might apply to programs in Greater LA.
1 PM to 4 PM: “Staff Supervision and Support for the Practice”
This session is for supervisors and managerial staff in agencies working with homeless and formerly homeless people. Topics include: Techniques of good supervisory practice and problem solving, providing support and guidance to the staff in the implementation of the practices of housing access and stabilization. The session will also review common supervisory challenges and adult learning styles.
9 AM to 4 PM: “Assisting Individuals and Families in the Transition to Housing”
This session is open to all homeless services providers, with priority given to providers from the South LA community. Topics include: Roles and responsibilities of each program type or component in helping people achieve housing stability, coordination strategies with partner agencies, and the use of evidence-based practices (EBPs) including Motivational Interviewing, Critical Time Intervention and Housing First and other Housing Stabilization Techniques. A key focus of the session will be on assessing housing barriers, creating housing stabilization plans and building individual resource guides.
