On October 10-12th
, between the hours of 4 and 6 AM, 30 community volunteers canvassed and surveyed the streets of Watts to identify and survey people experiencing homelessness. This registry was sponsored by the Watts Community Center (WHCC), the Watts Community Action Committee (WLCAC) and Community Solutions Inc. At today’s brief back, the Watts team announced that they were able to survey 74 individuals, 35 of which were found to be vulnerable, and 61 of which were chronically homeless. As part of the initiative WLCAC and Watts Healthcare, in collaboration with local and national partners, aims to house 40 of the most vulnerable and chronic homeless individuals identified during the Watts Community Registry Week by July 2013.
