Weekly Corporate Leadership Profiles

Weekly Corporate Leadership Profiles

With the help of our generous corporate leaders, we are building a better Los Angeles. Every week, we highlight our top corporate leaders and salute them for helping us create pathways out of poverty. United Way of Greater Los Angeles extends a huge thanks to these leaders and corporations working with us to permanently break the cycle of poverty for our most vulnerable neighbors: families, children, veterans and the homeless.

Company: Avery Dennison

Avery Dennison concluded a fantastic volunteer event on November 6.  Through a corporate gift and employee drives, Avery Dennison helped prepare 50 Welcome Home! kits for our homeless neighbors.  Over the next few months, the Skid Row Housing Trust will be opening up about 100 new units to provide permanent supportive housing for our homeless Angelenos and these new Welcome Home! kits will provide them with the start that they need to turn these units into a place that they can call  home.

In addition to their volunteer work, Avery Dennison also just concluded a very successful workplace campaign last week and surpassed the goals that they set out to achieve!  Thank you to everyone at Avery Dennison for your continued support and partnership.  Together we are creating homes for the homeless in Los Angeles and Creating Pathways Out of Poverty!

Company: EY

Employees from all over the country participated in the EY Connect Day, an annual day of community service and celebration.  This year, the EY team in Los Angeles met with 30 at-risk young adults from the YWCA Job Corps in late September to help them with their resumes and interview preparation.

Volunteering is a great way to bring staff and leadership together and get motivated and passionate before kicking off a workplace campaign.  EY kicked off last week and we are very excited to keep that excitement going.  Thank you EY for staying connected to your community!

In preparation for the Bobrick Workplace Campaign that is kicking this week, Bobrick employees participated in another agency visit as L.A. Family Housing hosted United Way and Bobrick employees on October 29.  Bobrick took a firsthand look at how their contributions are impacting the community around them.  No stranger to Creating Pathways Out of Poverty, Bobrick took home the 100% CPOP Award at the Annual Philanthropy Awards last year.  Thank you to the outstanding team at Bobrick for their commitment to helping those that are living in need in our communities.  Your 100% support for CPOP is an amazing feat and inspires all of us here at the United Way of Greater Los Angeles to keep pushing to break the cycle of poverty in Los Angeles!
