The very beginning of our work to fund and empower direct service providers through a “Community Chest.”
Officially formed in 1922, United Way of Greater Los Angeles moved to Downtown Los Angeles in 1995 to symbolically confront the epicenters of poverty.
Focusing on L.A. County’s unique needs, we shifted our approach to combating poverty to specifically address education, housing, and economic mobility forming a decade long focus in 2007 known as Creating Pathways Out of Poverty.
We’re on a mission to permanently break the cycle of poverty for our most vulnerable neighbors – but we can’t do it without you. Together, we will fight poverty at its roots by focusing on long-term solutions in education, housing, and economic mobility to solve the fundamental problems facing our most vulnerable neighbors in L.A. County.
