Erika Anderson

This week, United Way of Greater Los Angeles announced Erika Anderson as the newest member of the Executive Team. Erika will take on the role of Chief Development Officer and will be responsible for building new models for fundraising, donor engagement, and strategic partnerships. She will oversee the Development department with a staff of 25.

Anderson has had a distinguished career in media, most recently serving as President & Publisher of the Los Angeles Magazine Media Portfolio. Her expertise in strategic planning, business development, digital growth, event production, branded content, operations and public speaking makes her a multi-faceted and dynamic leader.

She has a proven track record of transforming organizations, building innovation-focused cultures, launching successful partnership initiatives, and brand extensions. Other career highlights include serving as West Coast Director of LIFE Magazine, Los Angeles Manager at GOLF Magazine, and Advertising Director at Emmis Communications.

As an L.A. native, she’s no stranger to United Way’s mission and served as a Board Member from 2016 to 2017. She thrives on being part of an organization that bends the arch of history towards socio-economic justice.

“I have deep respect for the vision of the leadership team and the impactful work of United Way of Greater Los Angeles,” she said. “As the organization is poised for great future momentum, I look forward to working with the team to increase opportunities for individuals and companies to fund innovative solutions to our region’s most pressing needs.”

Erika is also the Co-Chair of Communications for the Organization of Women Executives. She’s passionate about paving the way in leadership and philanthropy for her children, most recently participating in the second ever Women’s March Los Angeles alongside the United Way team.

She finds that her service to the community is mirrored in her continued dedication to her beloved sport and hobby, rowing. Erika is an avid recreational competitive rower, enjoys rowing in Marina Del Rey, and has used her passion to travel to and participate in regattas around the country.

Erika earned her BA in English from the University of California in Santa Barbara and currently resides in Santa Monica, CA with her husband and two daughters.
