We're excited to introduce you to the United Way of Greater Los Angeles team members who help bring our programs and advocacy to life! In this edition of Meet #TeamUnited, get to know Sara Mooney, our Education Program Officer:

We are well-connected to so many individuals and organizations that represent the vastness and diversity of Los Angeles.

Our most recent student-led candidate forums for the LAUSD School Board elections and publishing the Parent ToolKit. These have been real labors of love that made a positive impact for many parents and students in L.A.

HomeWalk, of course!

5.As the Education Program Officer at United Way of Greater Los Angeles, what are you most excited to accomplish in your position?

We’ve done a lot of policy and advocacy work in LAUSD (because it’s almost half of L.A. County students) but I want to build on the progress we’ve made in this district and expand our efforts to other areas of the region.

6.What is your favorite snack?

Lately it’s been peanut butter, honey and bananas on an English muffin.

7.What book are you reading now?

I just started the second Game of Thrones book!!

Pink. No explanation needed.

9.What is your favorite thing to do on a weekend morning or after work hours?

Ride my bike, go to yoga, or let’s be honest, not leave my bed.

10.Tell us a random fact about yourself?

I have a black belt in karate, was a wrestler for two years, and I am beginning to explore boxing.

11.Who do you admire most and why?

I admire anyone who is kind, politically-conscious, and intelligent! So, everyone at United Way.
