Every year on March 2 (Dr. Seuss’s birthday!), United Way of Greater Los Angeles teams up with the National Education Association to celebrate Read Across America Day!

In 2017, 62 volunteers went to eight schools in the City of Wilmington to read their favorite children’s books to 1,784 pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first grade students. Each student also received a fun book, pencils, and bookmarks to further promote reading and literacy. “Seeing the joy on their faces as they explore new worlds through books is so much fun,” said one volunteer.
