Wells Fargo has donated over $545,000 to United Way of Greater Los Angeles to assist individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles County. The funds will provide supportive and temporary bridge housing; expand client navigation services, crisis/emergency funds, and move-in assistance; as well as support communication, engagement, and community mobilization efforts across Los Angeles County.
“Wells Fargo has long been committed to the mission of improving lives and building stronger communities,” said Gregg Sherkin, vice president, community affairs senior manager of Wells Fargo. “We know we can count on United Way of Greater Los Angeles to make the most impact to the lives of vulnerable Angelenos and help them reach a solid financial ground,” Sherkin added.
In addition to their donation, Wells Fargo has also teamed up with United Way of Greater Los Angeles on numerous engagements over the past year, including the annual Fall Into Literacy book fair, a mobile non-perishable food bank collection pop-up, and the Everyone In Community Pop-Up to End Homelessness. Wells Fargo also provided nearly 200 volunteer hours for the Stamp Out Hunger food drive co-sponsored by United Way of Greater Los Angeles.
“United Way has been working for nearly a decade to end homelessness and poverty for tens of thousands of people across Los Angeles County,” said Elise Buik, President and CEO of United Way of Greater Los Angeles. “We are at a pivotal moment in the fight. The support and partnership from Wells Fargo is critical to driving effective solutions forward. Through our Everyone In campaign to end homelessness, our “Close the Gap” education resolution and other community impact solutions, we plan to double down on this work and, with these new resources, do even more to help people across the region break the cycle of poverty, permanently.”
